Solid brass mortar with its original pestle, dating to the 20th century, measuring 8 cm high, 5 cm wide and 4 cm deep, made in Italy.
Description from the seller
Antique mortar with pestle in solid brass – Rustic acanthus/rock decoration – 19th/20th Century
Description
Splendid and elegant antique mortar in solid brass, complete with its original pestle in matching tone.
This piece stands out for its distinctive artistic craftsmanship: the central body features a striking band of ring with a "rock" / "bark" finish and raised geometric/organic elements (decorative ribs), which give the object a strong sculptural and tactile character, in addition to an excellent grip.
The top and base are finished with turned and mirror-polished mouldings, creating a pleasant visual contrast with the rough texture of the central band.
Material: Heavy brass casting
Period: Late 19th – Early 20th century (probably European/continental manufacture)
Included object: Mortar and original pestle
Condition: Good overall condition consistent with age. It bears a natural and fascinating patina of time, with slight signs of wear that attest to its authenticity. Structurally solid, free of cracks or serious damage.
Perfect for antique collectors, vintage pharmacy/alchemy tools, or as a refined interior decor element for rustic, classical, or contemporary interiors.
