Estimated period 1910-1920, wooden construction, in Art Nouveau style, this monumental antique aneroid wall barometer with a thermometer is housed in a richly carved wooden wall cabinet.
Description from the seller
Monumental antique aneroid barometer with thermometer in a richly carved wooden wall cabinet
An impressive antique wall barometer that combines functionality and decorative power in an exceptionally tasteful manner. The instrument is housed in a richly carved wooden cabinet with openwork ornaments, graceful scrolls, and three striking flower motifs at the top.
In the middle sits a long glass thermometer with Celsius scale. Below it is the round aneroid barometer, equipped with a finely worked French dial. The markings such as “Tempête”, “Pluie”, “Variable”, “Beau Temps” and “Très Sec” indicate different weather expectations and atmospheric pressure conditions. Through the open center, the mechanical inner workings are visible, giving the instrument extra character.
The combination of dark warm wood, metal framing, and a refined dial makes this an exceptionally decorative object. Very suitable for a classical interior, study, library, hospitality venue, or a collection of antique meteorological instruments.
