Description from the seller
Very beautiful and original Herda Space Age ceiling lamp from the seventies. This iconic Dutch design is a magnificent example of the futuristic styling that characterized the Space Age era. The lamp combines a warm smoked brown glass outer shade with an opal white inner shade, creating a particularly atmospheric and even light distribution. The light is soft and diffuse, while the transparent smoked glass edge casts a warm glow that makes the lamp both a decorative object when on and off.
The design is minimalist and sculptural. The round, floating form seems almost weightless and fits effortlessly into both a vintage, mid-century modern and a contemporary interior. Thanks to the timeless design, the lamp stands out above a dining table, in a hallway, living room or bedroom.
This Herda lamp is made of high-quality glass and metal. The black metal suspension forms a nice contrast with the glossy chrome ring and the warm smoked glass. The inner opal glass shade ensures that the light source is not directly visible and prevents glare, while the outer glass shade elegantly frames the light.
The lamp is in good original vintage condition. The glass is intact without fractures or cracks. There are light signs of wear and some superficial scratches, appropriate for an object of over fifty years old. The photos form an integral part of the description and give a good impression of the condition. The lamp has been tested and works properly. Equipped with an E27 fitting, suitable for both LED and traditional light sources.
Herda is among the best-known Dutch lighting manufacturers from the second half of the twentieth century. In particular, the designs from the sixties and seventies are nowadays beloved by collectors for their high-quality finish, durable materials and characteristic Space Age styling.
