Vintage Precision-Style Bass – Made in Japan – Sunburst – Technically Inspected and Refurbished
Description
Offered here is a four-string vintage electric bass inspired by the Fender Precision Bass, made in Japan.
The visible country-of-origin marking reads “Made in Japan.” No clear manufacturer or model designation is present or still identifiable.
A small number sticker is located on the back of the headstock and reads:
No. 815573
This is likely a serial number, production number, or internal identification number. Since the manufacturer of the instrument has not yet been conclusively identified, the number cannot currently be assigned to a specific model or year of manufacture. It is therefore fully and transparently documented without making any definitive claim about the date of production.
The bass was completely disassembled, cleaned, technically inspected, and carefully refurbished. The electronics, wiring, potentiometers, output jack, pickup, bridge, pickguard, and other components were checked and then properly reassembled. The accompanying photographs document both the opened condition of the instrument and parts of the work carried out.
Visually, the instrument features a classic sunburst finish, a light maple neck with maple fingerboard, a split pickup in Precision style, and large chrome covers over the pickup and bridge. The distinctive patterned pickguard further enhances its authentic vintage character.
An older Fargo sticker is attached to the body. This is not the brand or model name of the instrument, but a later-applied sticker referring to the German rock band Fargo. The sticker forms part of the instrument’s history and appearance, but does not provide a reliable basis for dating the bass.
Condition
The bass is used and consistent with its age, but it has been extensively worked on and brought back into a good, well-maintained, and playable condition.
This is an older vintage instrument and therefore shows normal signs of use and authentic patina. These are part of the instrument’s history and were taken into account during the refurbishment.

My Sales Philosophy
This is another instrument that I am offering at auction under my personal sales philosophy.
At present, I mainly offer instruments that have been technically inspected and described to the best of my knowledge and belief.
When buying online, it is often very difficult to judge from photographs alone whether an instrument is truly suitable, playable, or technically problematic. Pictures can show a great deal, but not everything.
My aim is therefore to create honest, transparent, and lasting relationships of trust and to give the buyer the best possible basis for making a decision.
At a time when, in my personal view, fundamental values such as honesty, responsibility, and reliability are sometimes neglected, I have decided to regard the sale of my instruments as a personal mission.
My guiding principle is:
“As detailed as necessary, but not as detailed as possible.”
Not every instrument can or should be fully restored. The economic aspect naturally also plays an important role. Nevertheless, known defects should not be concealed.
My aim is to have every instrument inspected, described, and offered to the best of my knowledge and belief.
For me, this also means that the price of an instrument may reflect the actual work carried out. Anyone who has invested knowledge, experience, time, and craftsmanship in an instrument should be fairly compensated for that work.
Technical inspection, refurbishment, care, and an honest assessment of condition have real value. For this reason, the prices of my inspected instruments may differ from those of unchecked examples.
The buyer is not simply purchasing an instrument, but also benefits from the time invested, the technical inspection, and a description that is intended to be as transparent as possible regarding the instrument’s true condition.
I hope to build long-term trust in this way and to offer instruments that find their next owner with honesty, responsibility, and respect for the instrument.
