Vintage umbrella stand in a hand-hammered copper sheet, dating to 1960–1970, made in Italy in Tuscany, weighing about 1 kg, with dimensions 51 cm high and 26 cm square, in good used condition with signs of age.
Description from the seller
Vintage Hand-H hammered Copper Sheet Elegant Umbrella Stand – Italian Artisanal Craftsmanship (60s/70s)
Fascinating umbrella stand (also usable as a refined walking stick holder) made from hand-formed copper sheet, dating to the second half of the 20th century. The piece is distinguished by its iconic and dynamic flared “cartoccio” (or tulip) shape with an elegant upper edge featuring a wavy profile.
The surface is entirely handmade through a dense technique of scattered hammering (artisan repoussé), which creates beautiful, warm plays of light and metallic reflections. The design is further enhanced by a double, refined decorative crest in a rolled motif (three-strand braided rope in relief), positioned both on the upper edge and at the base connection. On the reverse, the longitudinal seam is clearly visible, an unmistakable signature of once-manual craftsmanship.
A lightweight, timeless home accessory, perfect for entrances in classic, rustic, Flemish, or eclectic styles.
Condition and technical details:
The piece presents in good vintage overall condition, stable and ready for use. The external surface retains a beautiful shine.
Restoration notes and defects: The circular base has undergone manual artisanal restoration to correct its shape: therefore you can see the signs of hammering, with some small superficial imperfections or punch marks on the sheet. These details do not compromise aesthetics or stability, but attest to the original, malleable nature of the metal.
Interior and bottom: The interior and the outer bottom retain their original dark patina of time with traces of natural oxidation (verdigris), evidence of its age and real use. The structure is intact and free of through-holes.
Weight: about 1 kg.
(Note: The umbrellas and the walking stick visible in the photographs are for illustrative purposes only to show the object's proportions and use and are not included in the lot).
