Antique brass candle wick snuffer, a tool from the 18th or 19th century for trimming the carbonized wick of candles.
These scissors are equipped with a small carved receptacle to catch the cut wick, thus preventing smoke and sparks.
The tapered tip at the end also allows scraping the tallow and straightening the wick.
