Description from the seller

Erik Toebosch (born in 1949 in Venlo) is a Dutch painter and graphic artist, known for his unique style that combines elements of spirituality, mythology, and humor.

Toebosch's work is characterized by scenes from self-written fairy tales, myths, and legends. Recurring themes are death, spirituality, and human symbolism. His paintings often feature motifs such as angels, crosses, hourglasses, and shields, and his style shows similarities to Byzantine icon art, partly due to the use of gold paint. Despite the heavy themes, there is also room for humor and relativization in his work.
