Description from the seller
The rollerball pen is presented in superb overall condition, evidencing extremely careful prior use and excellent maintenance, ideal for everyday use as well as for joining high-end collections of the most selective limited editions of Italian manufacture.
The body and cap, made of the famous blue veined precious resin from Montegrappa, maintain an impeccable, clean structure, without cracks, fissures, bite marks, or any deformations. When held to the light, only subtle, fine surface manipulation marks (hairlines) derived from honest storage and use are visible, preserving an exceptional mirror-like shine that contrasts sublimely with the metal cap.
The details and the intricate cut filigree in solid sterling silver 925 (the continent map on the body, the meridians, the clip and the upper crown) appear bright and in magnificent condition, showing a clean patina with no losses or wear on the reliefs of the chasing. The clip with its legendary rotating sphere maintains its original firm and perfect tension, and the Montegrappa mark reads with absolute clarity.
On the flat bottom base of the piece is displayed, with deep and perfect engraving, the prestigious serial number 054 / 266, formally certifying that this is the coveted specimen number 54 in a micro-run strictly limited worldwide to only 266 units in rollerball format. Right below, the official stamps of Italian goldsmithing look impeccable: the purity seal 925 and the official diamond-shaped stamp ★ 1055 VI identifying the workshop’s historical registry in the town of Vicenza.
The writing section is the grande joy of the piece in its category: visually impeccable, clean, crowned by a superb solid silver stylized cone in perfect condition, promising writing of extraordinary softness and fluency, characteristic of the Bassano del Grappa firm’s engineering.
The screw-cap closure mechanism turns completely smoothly, firmly, and fluently, providing the appropriate resistance that guarantees the set closes with total precision and hermeticity. It should be noted that the piece is presented as a complete collection set, accompanied by its luxury blue-lacquered case, original edition documentation, and the pen’s original cloth.
Overall, this is an extraordinary exemplar of one of the world’s most iconic themed limited series, distinguished by superb craftsmanship in sterling silver and an extremely low print run of only 266 pieces, optimally preserved and ready for use or display in a showcase.
Preservation recommendations
To preserve the optimal functioning of this high-end piece, it is recommended to use exclusively original Montegrappa rollerball refills or high-quality compatible ones. As it is coated in 925 sterling silver, it is natural that over time the metal may show subtle oxidation from contact with air; periodic cleaning with a soft cloth designed for silver, included in the case, is advised, avoiding abrasive chemical products. If it will not be used for an extended period, remove the ink cartridge and store it in its case protected from direct sunlight and extreme humidity.
Happy bidding!
