Description
Elegant and refined decanter in Murano artistic glass, made in the 1960s.
The work stands out for its essential, timeless design, featuring a slender body in perfectly transparent optical glass, enhanced by a substantial solid base that provides stability, build quality, and a pleasant sense of solidity.
The absolutely valuable element is the magnificent original stopper, made in artistic glass with a refined cobalt blue sculpture, hand-modeled with fluid and elegant forms that represent one of the most distinctive elements of Murano design of the period.
For stylistic and qualitative characteristics, the work is attributable to Seguso Vetri d’Arte. The attribution is based on the high quality of workmanship, the use of notably thick optical glass, the finely finished solid base, and, above all, the characteristic cobalt blue glass sculptural stopper, an element that recalls the aesthetic language developed by the historic Murano manufactory in the 1960s.
Even in the absence of a visible signature, the ensemble of stylistic characteristics, proportions, and excellent execution quality make a Seguso Vetri d’Arte attribution plausible, one of the most prestigious historic Murano furnaces.
The piece represents a perfect balance between functionality and sculpture, making it ideal both as an elegant decanter and as an important decorative element for contemporary interiors and collections of Italian artistic glass.
