Valencian cork and brass botijo, dated 1953 with an estimated period of 1940–1960, measuring 21 x 18 x 11 cm.
Description from the seller
Ancient cork botijo from Sagunto (Valencia), dated 1953, made of cork and brass.
Traditional piece of Valencian popular craft, formerly used as a container to transport and keep water. It features a cylindrical body of cork from cork oak, reinforced and decorated with bands of brass engraved with floral and vegetal motifs.
It preserves its original characteristic elements: four small brass feet, upper handles, carrying ring, chains and ornamental metal pieces. At the top it presents the closing and pouring elements typical of this type of vessel.
It shows patina and signs of use and age consistent with its age, including surface oxidation and brass wear, small losses or irregularities in the cork and marks from use. The photographs form part of the description and show its condition.
A singular piece of Spanish popular crafts from the first half of the 20th century, especially interesting for preserving the original decoration, the complete structure, and a dated personalized inscription.
