Pair of Chinese blue-and-white porcelain plates from the Kangxi period (c. 1680–1720), each about 21 cm in diameter and 4 cm high, with underglaze cobalt-blue decoration and an Artemisia leaf mark on the base, in good condition with age-appropriate wear and minor iron spots.

Pair of Chinese blue-and-white porcelain plates – Kangxi period (1662-1722)
Origin: China, Jingdezhen
Period: Kangxi (1662-1722), probably ca. 1680-1720
Material: Porcelain with underglaze cobalt blue decoration
Dimensions: Diameter ca. 21 cm per plate
Quantity: 2 pieces
Mark: Artemisia leaf mark in underglaze blue within double concentric circles on the underside of both plates
Description:
A pair of lobed plates with underglaze blue decoration. Each plate features a central medallion filled with a dense floral composition consisting of peonies, chrysanthemums, lotuses and scrolling foliage. The rim is divided into panels with alternating decorations of flowers, plants and birds, separated by ornamental bands in crackled-style. The underside is also decorated with panel decoration and bears the Artemisia leaf mark.
The plates are characteristic of the high-quality Chinese export porcelain shipped to Europe in the late 17th and early 18th centuries via the VOC.
Condition:
Good, age-related wear. Light chips and wear to the lobed rims. Some small iron spots in the glaze (typical for the period). No visible cracks or restorations. The painting is bright and intact.
