Description from the seller
Description
Charming artistic reproduction of a necked/pelike amphora with a classical Magna-Greek flair, made in Italy in the 1990s (engraving/mark present beneath the base).
The work is crafted from a gypsum-clay material mix and finished with an antiqued patina in a crusted/archeological excavation effect, designed in minute detail to recreate the materiality and charm of ancient artifacts.
Subject and Decor:
Front/Back: Depiction of winged mythological figures (inspired by the figure of Eros or Nike) painted with white fields, ochre and polychrome details on a black background.
Decorative Motifs: On the shoulder and neck are classic geometric motifs (fretwork / meander / Greek key) and stylized palmettes under the handles.
Finish: Detailed surface finish with simulated wear and calcite encrustations typical of excavation pots.
Technical Characteristics
Type: Art reproduction / decorative vase
Era / Year of production: 1990s (1990-1999)
Origin: Italy (bearing inscription of provenance/manufacture under the base)
Material: Gypsum-clay paste with painted and patinated finish
Height: 24 cm
Width (with handles): 16 cm
Depth: 14 cm
Weight: 535 grams
Conditions: Good overall condition. Shows slight signs of patina wear consistent with the object's age and intended by the manufacturer to confer the “antique” effect. The object appears to be glued in some parts. Please observe the photos carefully, which are an integral part of the description.
