Impressive and unusual large Italian sculptural art-glass vase, executed in delicate frosted pink/salmon glass. The vase has a spectacular organic Calla Lily / trumpet-flower form. Its broad flower-shaped opening has a beautifully worked, undulating rim with petal-like folds. The body gradually narrows into an exceptionally long and elegant stem, which continues seamlessly into a dramatic spiralling, curled base. The combination of the flowing shape, substantial dimensions and satin-frosted surface gives the vase a strong sculptural presence. Depending on the light, the glass varies from a very pale blush pink to a warmer salmon tone. The vase retains its original gold foil “MADE IN ITALY” label. The construction and free-flowing form are characteristic of Italian decorative art glass. The maker is unknown, so the piece is not attributed to Murano or a particular glassworks without documentary evidence.
