This old stoneware bottle stamped S.R.D. is a British military vessel used during World War I to transport alcohol rations (primarily rum).
Meaning of the acronym S.R.D.: Supply Reserve Depot (Dépôt de réserve d'approvisionnement) of the British Army.
Material: Thick glazed ceramic stoneware, designed to withstand shocks on the front.
Often affectionately nicknamed Shed Ruin Destruction by the soldiers, these jars contained the daily rum ration distributed to the troops.
