Description from the seller
Antique Art Deco Table Lamp from around 1930 – Very heavy bronze/brass casting & real parchment shade
A beautiful and rare original table lamp from the Art Deco era / pre-war period (ca. 1920–1940).
A massive and expressive centerpiece for lovers of high-quality antiques.
Massive & very heavy cast foot: The curved tripod impresses with its enormous weight, a clear quality feature for genuine bronze casting or heavy brass casting of the era (not cheap hollow metal or zinc).
The shaft is tiered with decorative ball elements and has a beautiful, decades-accumulated dark patina.
Original parchment shade (pigskin): An absolute highlight is the octagonal shade made of real parchment, traditionally edged with a leather cord. When lit, the material filters the light wonderfully and creates an incredibly warm, golden, cozy light. The natural texture and grain of the animal skin are beautifully showcased. The original vent wheel at the crown for heat dissipation is fully preserved.
Technique & electricity: The lamp is equipped with two E27 sockets, ensuring perfect, even downcast illumination. The electrical components (cable, intermediate switch, and Schuko angled plug) were professionally modernized in the postwar period (approx. 1950s–1970s). The lamp works flawlessly and is ready to use immediately.
Condition: Age-appropriate very good, authentic condition with a glorious patina. The parchment is firm and crack-free, it has a slight odor. The leather cord at the upper crown has dried out and is partially broken over generations (see detail photos) – this does not affect function and can be easily rethreaded by a crafter if desired.
It will be carefully prepared and packed for shipping.
