MONTBLANC WRITERS EDITION 1992: ERNEST HEMINGWAY
We present to auction the cornerstone piece of Montblanc's modern collecting era. Launched in 1992, the "Ernest Hemingway" edition had the honor of being the first in the now legendary "Writers Edition" collection. Finding units in this magnificent condition has become a real challenge for enthusiasts around the world.
The design of this pen is a direct tribute to the mythical Montblanc 139 fountain pen from the 1930s. It has bold, balanced dimensions (13.3 cm in length and 1.3 cm in maximum diameter). The body is turned from a brilliant coral-red resin, which dramatically contrasts with the cap and the lower cone in dark resin.
The metal details, gold-plated, include a beautiful vintage-style clip. On the cap, as the sole personal adornment, is engraved the signature of the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Condition Report (Expert Review)
Pryers are urged to carefully study the photographic gallery. The pen is in magnificent aesthetic and functional condition, very well cared for despite being over 30 years old:
Resin and Gold Plating: The coral-red body and the cap retain a deep, uniform shine. There are no cracks, dents, or deep scratches; only minute superficial micro-scratches ("hairs") from very light contact. The rings and the clip retain all of their gold plating with no obvious wear.
Mechanics: The continuous twist mechanism operates smoothly to extend and retract the nib. (Note: The writing instrument is delivered as-is, without the original book-shaped case of the edition. Future interior ink refills may require replacement).
Shipping
The item will be carefully protected and securely packed, with highly insured shipping and an international tracking number.
A tremendous opportunity to acquire the "Santo Graal" that inaugurated Montblanc's Writers Editions! Best of luck to all bidders!
