Description from the seller
Boch Frères La Louvière Keralux Vase “Fleurs de Saxe” — Belgium
An elegant and highly decorative ceramic vase by Boch Frères La Louvière, produced in Belgium under the renowned Keralux line during the late Art Deco period.
This model is decorated with the celebrated “Fleurs de Saxe” (Flowers of Saxony) pattern, one of the most iconic and enduring décors produced by the manufactory. Inspired by the floral traditions of Saxon and Meissen porcelain, the decoration combines vibrant bouquets of roses, cornflowers, irises, poppies and wildflowers, carefully arranged across a luminous ivory-white ground.
Unlike more traditional forms, this vase displays a distinctly Art Deco silhouette, characterized by its elegant flared profile, strong geometric proportions and striking sculptural side handles finished in rich gilding. The combination of refined floral decoration and bold architectural form perfectly reflects the decorative trends of the 1930s, when classical inspiration met modern design.
The Fleurs de Saxe décor was among the most successful patterns produced by Boch Frères and appeared on a wide variety of forms. Today it remains highly appreciated by collectors of Belgian ceramics and decorative arts.
The vase is in very good vintage condition. There are light traces of age, gentle wear to the gilded elements and typical crazing of the glaze, all consistent with faience production of the period and clearly visible in the photographs. These minor signs of age do not detract from the overall presentation and authenticity of the piece.
Both decorative and collectible, this vase would be equally at home in a contemporary interior, where it serves as a colourful statement piece, or in an Art Deco-inspired setting, where its sculptural form and rich decoration can be fully appreciated
