Description from the seller
Piano / decorative tray in polychrome marbles – Antiqu Yellow and precious marbles – Italy, early 20th century
Splendid Italian decorative top / tray in polychrome marbles, dating from the early 20th century, characterized by a refined geometric composition made by juxtaposing different precious marbles.
Of great charm is the wide surface in Giallo Antico, marble with a warm golden tone crossed by beautiful natural veining, which constitutes the color frame of the central composition.
In the center develops an elegant diamond-shaped geometric design, obtained through the alternation of carefully cut and juxtaposed polychrome marbles, in white, black, red, brown and yellow. The different natural veins of the stones create a rich and harmonious whole, further enhanced by the substantial black marble perimeter border.
The result is an object with great decorative presence, where the rigor of geometry meets the chromatic and tactile richness of Italian marbles.
The lower part features four small stone feet, which raise the top slightly from the support surface and underline its function as a refined display piece.
The top is glossy, very beautiful and well preserved. Only very light superficial marks are present, practically imperceptible and fully compatible with the age of the object. Overall the aesthetic impact is excellent and the polishing magnificently enhances the colors and veining of the different marbles.
Interior design tips
Our interior designer recommends it as a focal element on a console, a sideboard, a coffee table or an important desk, preferably leaving the surface clear to fully appreciate the geometric design and the natural beauty of the marbles.
In a classic interior, it dialogues magnificently with dark woods, bronzes, antique books and other works of art; placed in a contemporary or minimalist setting, it becomes a refined element of contrast, capable of introducing material, color and history without weighing down the overall look.
It can be used as a decorative tray, centerpiece or simply as a precious display top, particularly dramatic even when left completely free.
