Bookends - Wood - Bookends yogiman

Beautiful decorative set of hand-cut wooden bookends depicting the traditional Orang Malu (also known as the Yogiman or the Crying Buddha).
Made in Bali, Indonesia, circa 1970-1980.

Meaning Design: The design shows a figure huddled, with its face hidden in its hands. Although at first glance it appears to be a mournful pose, it symbolizes introversion, deep meditation, and humility.

Optical Illusion: When you view the figure from different angles, you can discover other shapes within. The back resembles the contours of a human heart (strength), the side shows the shape of a fetus (new life and purity), and the front displays the smiling face of a Buddha.

Dimensions: about 13.5 cm high, 12 cm wide, and 12.5 cm deep.

Condition: in good condition, of course with signs of use.
