Pair of Scheurich ceramic vases from West Germany, dating to the 1950s–1960s, with a cream base and an abstract geometric decor in brown lines, black shapes and yellow, light blue and red accents; two different forms, heights about 23 cm and 20 cm, each 11 cm wide and deep, in good vintage condition with minor signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Scheurich – Pair of Mid-Century Ceramic Vases – West Germany –
Decorative pair of original Scheurich ceramic vases from West Germany, presumably from the 1950s/1960s.
The two vases feature a coordinated, abstract-geometric decoration on a cream-colored background. Characteristic are the fine brown lines as well as the black geometric shapes and strong color accents in yellow, light blue and red. The decoration conveys the typical optimistic Mid-Century/Atomic style of the era.
What is particularly appealing is that these are two different Scheurich forms with the same decoration, making them a very harmonious and collectible ensemble when paired.
The larger vase still bears the original Scheurich label.
Base markings:
Scheurich 249-22, height approx. 23 cm
Scheurich 522-20, height approx. 20 cm
Both vases are in good vintage condition with age-related signs of wear. Please study the photos carefully; they are part of the condition description.
A beautiful original Scheurich pair for collectors of West German pottery, Mid-Century Modern, and postwar German ceramics.
