This unique vase, made in the very sought after PRUNE colour, was designed by Charles Graffart around 1950 for Val Saint Lambert in Belgium , The diamond design against a sparkling crystal background gives the vase an exceptional beauty. The vase is blown with clear crystal, after which a layer of prune coloured crystal is applied, which is then ground back to create the final design. This doubled crystal process was perfected by Val Saint Lambert and used extensively. Val Saint Lambert products have a lead content of 33-40% instead of the 24% legally required. This extra lead content gives the product a gorgeous brilliance and clarity.
The vase stands 23cm. high and 16cm. diameter. Diameter at the top is 14.0cm. and the foot is 10.0cm.
Condition is near MINT with only some scratching on the base due to movement.
Charles Graffart was a Master Craftsman in his trade. This elegant hand-made vintage vase is a masterpiece from his hand.
The vase is signed on the base "Val St. Lambert" .
