This is a fine Japanese ceramic inkstone (Suzuri) produced by the renowned Gen'emon Kiln (Izumi Gen'emon) in Arita, the heart of Japanese porcelain production. Crafted during the Meiji period (1868-1912), it features an elegant "Korai-style" (ancient Chinese inspired) underglaze blue design depicting delicate plum blossoms. This piece beautifully combines traditional scholarly aesthetics with the exceptional craftsmanship of Arita ware, making it a valuable addition to any collection of Japanese antiques or calligraphy tools.
