Dial and Hands
The striking and well-preserved dial features a vibrant red to black gradient fumé finish. Applied gold-tone indices and Seiko LM logos provide excellent contrast against the rich background. The surface remains remarkably clean, showing no visible moisture damage or heavy spotting. At the three o'clock position, a gold-tone framed window displays the day and date, offering both English and Japanese Kanji language options. The gold-tone faceted baton hands feature a black central stripe and are exceptionally well preserved, presenting clean surfaces with minimal oxidation or wear.

Case and Crystal
The 36 millimeter stainless steel case retains honest vintage character with brushed top surfaces and polished flanks. The sharp lines and original geometry appear well maintained, displaying light scratches and handling marks consistent with age. The distinctive faceted crystal enhances the dial presentation, remaining clear while exhibiting some light surface scratches and minor edge wear visible under certain lighting angles. An unsigned crown is partially recessed into the case flank, maintaining the smooth profile of the integrated design, framed by a polished integrated bezel that shows light surface scratches consistent with the rest of the case.

Movement
Inside beats the Seiko caliber 5606A automatic movement, featuring 23 jewels. The movement displays clean plates and a clean rotor, with clear engravings confirming the Seiko, 23 Jewels, and Japan 5606A specifications. Some dirt and grime accumulation is visible on the case sealing edge just outside the movement area. The movement was serviced on 16 August 2026. Timegrapher result indicate variation of approx. 8-10 s/d

Strap
The watch is fitted with its original signed stainless steel link bracelet. The endlinks are stamped XAB680, and the clasp features the SEIKO LM signature. This original and well-suited bracelet shows moderate surface scratches and signs of use, accommodating a maximum wrist size of up to 18 centimeters.

Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The movement was serviced on 16 August 2026. The dial and hands are exceptionally preserved, maintaining their vibrant color and sharp details. The case and bracelet show honest, age-related surface scratches but retain strong lines and their original finish transitions. The faceted crystal shows minor edge wear and light scratches that do not distract from the impressive dial beneath.

Dimensions
The case size is 36 mm, excluding the crown.

Remarks
This Lord Matic is a highly appealing piece thanks to its exceptional red gradient dial and original faceted crystal. The presence of the original signed bracelet and the English and Kanji day wheel make this a compelling addition for any enthusiast of 1970s Japanese design.

History
Introduced in the late 1960s, the Seiko Lord Matic line was positioned just below the King Seiko and Grand Seiko ranges, offering high quality automatic movements and sophisticated case designs. The 5600 series of calibers became known for their refined engineering and slim profiles, allowing for sleek case architecture. During the 1970s, Seiko experimented boldly with faceted crystals and vibrant colored dials, reflecting the dynamic aesthetic trends of the decade. These expressive configurations remain highly appreciated by collectors today for their distinct period character and reliable mechanical design.
