The Key Players: Madame Loubat took control in the early 1900s, firmly believing in its potential. Subsequently, the Moueix family (with Jean-Pierre Moueix and now Christian and Édouard Moueix) transformed Pétrus into an international legend.
Style: Made almost 100% Merlot, it is renowned for its opulent richness, velvety texture, and extraordinary aging potential.
The 2021 vintage in Bordeaux was incredibly fresh and elegant. Compared to warmer, more muscular vintages, the 2021 Pétrus stands out for its extraordinary grace and precision.
Nose: Complex and refined aromas open with notes of black cherry, blackberry, raspberry, and rose petals, enriched with nuances of licorice, violet, clove, truffle, and a subtle iron-like minerality.
Palate: Medium-full bodied, it presents a silky and very fine tannic texture. Lively and balanced acidity gives it great energy, leading to a long, fresh, and slightly saline finish.
