Description from the seller

A striking sterling silver-gilt stirrup cup by the Royal Irish Silver Co., hallmarked Dublin, 1972. The upper section is finely modelled as the head of a snarling wolf, rendered with exceptional detail in textured sterling silver. The interior is richly gilt, providing a luxurious contrast and a traditional touch associated with ceremonial drinking vessels.

This sculptural piece follows the tradition of stirrup cups — typically given to riders before a hunt — and is designed to be held inverted when not in use, resting on the animal's head.
