Marble lamp in Art Déco style, produced in France, 20 cm wide by 36 cm high and 20 cm deep, in good used condition with minor signs of age, Vaughan Designs.
Description from the seller
It is a piece that combines sculpture, design, and functionality with that distinguished air we now associate with Vaughan Designs, although it actually originates in the first half of the twentieth century, when marble was still a preferred material for creating luminous objects with architectural presence. Here, the ancient urn is transformed into a lamp, preserving its ceremonial character but adapting to domestic life with sober and timeless elegance.
The white marble, polished and with soft veining, provides a sense of purity and visual weight. The top, worked with a pattern of geometric reliefs that recall petals, scales, or stylized motifs, introduces a language clearly Art Deco: repetition, rhythm, symmetry, and a pursuit of beauty through pared-down form. It is not strict Deco from the 1920s, but a later interpretation, calmer, typical of studios that continued exploring the style in later decades.
The base, rounded and solid, balances the composition and allows the light — once turned on — to play with the marble textures, creating soft shadows that enhance the relief. The interior is in good condition, with its original socket, which facilitates use and conservation. It only needs a new power extension cord, a minor adjustment that does not affect the piece's integrity.
Overall, it is a lamp that blends classicism, modernity, and craftsmanship, perfect for environments that seek a sculptural touch, warm light, and an object with history. A piece that not only illuminates but anchors the space with its serene presence and its echo of reinterpreted Art Deco.
Certified shipping and careful packaging.
