Breitling Chronomat reference B13047, circa 1990, automatic chronograph in stainless steel with 18kt gold bezel tabs, grey dial with three black registers and date, 39 mm case, on the original Breitling leather strap.
Description from the seller
Breitling Chronomat automatic chronograph in stainless steel and 18KT gold, reference B13047, the grey dial with three black registers and a date aperture, on the rotating bezel with its four gold rider tabs and the original Breitling strap.
Breitling built the Chronomat in 1984 for the Frecce Tricolori, the Italian air force display team, and it became the watch that carried the firm back into mechanical chronographs after the quartz years. The four gold tabs riding the bezel are what make it recognisable across a room: they lock the bezel against a knock, and two of them reverse so the bezel counts up or counts down.
The dial is grey with three black registers, running seconds at nine, thirty minutes at twelve and twelve hours at six, with a date aperture at three, applied luminous batons and the winged B above the signature. The crown and both chronograph pushers are 18KT gold and fluted for grip. Driving it is Breitling's Calibre 13, the firm's chronometer specification version of the Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement.
The caseback is struck with both reference numbers, 81.950 and B13047, together with ALL STAINLESS STEEL and WATER RESISTANT 10ATM 100M. Breitling renumbered the range at the turn of the 1990s, and reference B13047 ran from 1989 to 1995.
The watch is on its original Breitling leather strap.
