Ardbeg Seann Chreag 21 Years Old is the latest rare and storied release from the celebrated Islay distillery, available exclusively in Travel Retail. Named after the ancient rock Beinn Bheigier, Islay’s highest point, this limited edition offers a unique take on Ardbeg’s renowned peaty profile. The whisky’s character is deeply influenced by its maturation in Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks, which bring a distinct richness and complexity.

The Seann Chreag (“Shawn Craig” in Scots Gaelic) is a dram for the devoted Ardbeggian. Its layered profile begins with tarry smoke and rich sweetness, unfolding into flavors of hickory-smoked ham, nut toffee, and figs in syrup. Each sip is said to offer a taste of Islay’s rugged landscape, combining classic bourbon-aged Ardbeg notes with the depth imparted by sherry casks.

Described by Ardbeg’s Master Blender, Gillian Macdonald, as the “older sibling to Ardbeg Uigeadail,” Seann Chreag 21 Year Old is crafted with a character as rugged as Islay itself. Smoky and intensely sherried, it strikes a harmonious balance between peaty potency and refined sweetness. The finish delivers lingering notes of burning heather and damp peat, reminiscent of the dramatic Islay scenery.
