The first English translation of Relativity was first published in 1920. This copy is fifth edition 1921, with the aim of giving "an exact insight into the theory of relativity to those readers who, from a general scientific and philosophical point of view, are interested in the theory, but who are not conversant with the mathematical apparatus of theoretical physics." - Albert Einstein.

An authorized translation by Robert W. Lawson, D.Sc. from the third German edition of 1918. A frontispiece portrait of the Author by German Artist Hermann Struck. With five diagrams, equations within the text, and with the third appendix on "The Experimental Confirmation of the General Theory of Relativity" being written by Einstein especially for this edition.

Published by Methuen And Co. LTD, London (1921). Publishers’ original red cloth with blind-stamped lettering and border to upper cover, Green lettering to spine.

Condition
Firm and well bound copy. External covers in nice shape, slightly marked at top edges and with light wear to corners and to head and foot of the faded spine. The book is nice inside, and in good condition. No names or inscriptions. Toning and light foxing to free end papers pages and on some pages; text is bright and clear throughout (Please see pictures).
