Description from the seller
Elegant tea and coffee service for 6 people in very fine glossy white porcelain, entirely formed and hand-painted by the renowned German royal manufactory Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg.
The service is made on the famous Forma "Korb" (Wicker), enhanced by a delicate relief pattern on the rim that imitates the weave of a basket. The painted decoration features the historic scattered flower motif (Streublumen): botanical bouquets, roses, tulips and small field buds executed with the highest miniaturist precision and naturalistic polychrome shading.
Each element is unique in its decoration due to the handcrafted brushwork. The graceful shapes of the teapot, the sinuous handles and the knop of the lid molded into a bud form express the maximum plastic expression of Bavarian porcelain.
The lot includes a rare addition: a circular under-teapot/trivet with feet, coordinated in the same style.
The green showroom mark (Bavarian diamond-shaped shield topped by a crown and wrapped by the arched inscription "Nymphenburg"), together with the hand-written numerical codes on the bottom (0.450 and 865), precisely situates the manufacture of this set in the first half of the 20th century, between 1920 and 1950.
Lot composition (23 pieces total):
1 Teapot / Coffee pot with lid (bud-shaped knop)
1 Fine under-teapot / service saucer with feet
1 Milk jug / milk creamer
1 Sugar shaker with coordinated lid
1 Large deep serving bowl (salad/refreshment)
6 Teacups / coffee cups
5 Intermediate saucers (Note: one intermediate saucer is missing; the cup positioned top-left rests directly on its corresponding dessert plate)
6 Dessert/appetizer plates
Marks and identifiers:
Each piece bears the factory mark, impressed or stamped in green under display from the Nymphenburg manufactory.
Condition of the item: The porcelain presents overall antique conditions, with a glossy glaze, vivid colors and no cracks, chips or restorations on the existing pieces. The absence of the sixth intermediate cup saucer is noted, as shown in the photographic composition and the list of pieces.
The provided photographs are an integral and complementary part of this description. They faithfully represent the exact condition, details and components of the lot for sale. Please view the entire photo gallery carefully before placing bids. The item is sold as-is, as shown in the images.
