Description from the seller
Edward Stilgebauer's "Bildner der Jugend", first edition of 1908 is a separate novel of the author's series" Die Lügner des Lebens" (The Liars of Life)
The book is about a young man who falls under the influence of an older “educator” who claims to shape youth but is actually manipulative, using moral authority as a mask.
The author Edward Stilgebauer (1868 Frankfurt- 1936 San Remo) was an interesting pacifist and liberal, humanistic forgotten writer. His novels were BANNED BY THE NAZIS, as they did not fit Nazi ideology.
His books criticized authoritarian power, social hypocrisy, and the manipulation of young people.
This particular book was already banned by the Nazis in 1933 and placed on the “Liste des schädlichen und unerwünschten Schrifttums” (List of Harmful and Undesirable Literature), which targeted authors with liberal, humanistic, or critical worldviews.
Here in an unusual stunning MASTER-BINDING in full red morrocco with gilt ornaments in Art-Nouveau style, absolutely UNSEEN for this book. Gilt edges.
Fine condition.
(shipping via registered airmail, arrival time 14 - 30 working days, depending on destination, to Italy we ship with EMS courier).
