HOLIDAY2 is a limited edition silkscreen on paper by Sugai Kumi, numbered 117/250, 29.3 x 25.2 cm, produced in Japan in the 1970s–1980, hand signed, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
HOLIDAY2|Sugai Kumi 菅井汲(すがいくみ)
In 1952, Sugai moved to France, and his early works gained recognition in the Paris art world for their oriental textures resembling pictograms. However, from the 1960s onward, he completely transformed his style. Eliminating personal emotion and traces of handwork, he shifted to an inorganic and clear hard-edge (geometric abstraction) style composed solely of "circles" and "straight lines."
HORIDAY2 condenses this essence.
This work was produced as a series from HORIDAY 1 to HORIDAY 5.
As indicated by the title "HOLIDAY," rhythmic and light color play can be felt, away from the tension of everyday driving and strain.

Sugai Kumi (1919–1996) was a representative Japanese Western-style painter and printmaker who was active internationally, based in post-war Paris. His real name was Teizo.
