Large Majolica Ceramic Plate - Rustic Decoration with Fish - Italy, 19th/20th Century
Item Description
Charming and large rustic ceramic plate, typical of the Mediterranean popular tradition. The object stands out for its genuine aesthetics and the liveliness of colors typical of artisanal production of the period.
Decorative Details:
- Central Subject: Stylized depiction of a fish in cobalt blue, symbol of abundance and a recurring theme in coastal ceramics.
- Lip/Edge: Features a rich decorative ring with a sponge-like texture or small brush touches in ramina green, enclosed between concentric blue stripes.
- Finish: Cream/beige glaze with an evident and fascinating widespread craquelure across the surface, testifying to its age and firing method.
Conditions:
The object presents in original condition as found.
There are time signs consistent with use and age, such as small chips along the edge and glaze losses.
A thin hairline crack starts from the edge toward the center, visible on both the front and back (please refer to the detailed photos).
