Striking chess set made of natural stone, originating from Mexico.

The chessboard and the accompanying pieces are handmade and crafted from brown and white natural stone, probably marble. In the chessboard are carved so-called glyphs (pictograms) from the Aztec calendar, with a depiction of the Aztec sun god Tonatiuh in the center.

The board is 27x27 cm in size and 1.5 cm high. The weight is over 2600 grams. The king's height is about 6.5 cm. The pieces weigh a total of about 700 grams.

The object is in good condition, but has two minor imperfections: one corner of the chessboard has a small, unobtrusive damage (chip) and one of the pawns has been glued. For a good impression, please view the photos.

Schitterend schaakspeel van natuursteen, afkomstig uit Mexico . 

Het schaakbord en de bijbehorende stukken zijn handgemaakt en vervaardig uit bruin en wit natuursteen, waarschijnlijk marmer. In het schaakbord zijn zogenoemde gliefen (pictogrammen) uit de Azteekse kalender gegraveerd, met in het midden een afbeelding van de Azteekse zonnegod Tonatiuh. 

De bord is 27x27cm groot en 1,5cm hoog. Het gewicht bedraagt ruim 2600 gram. De koningshoogte bedraagt zo'n 6,5cm. De stukken wegen gezamenlijk zo'n 700 gram. 

Het object verkeert in goede staat, maar heeft twee onvolkomenheden: een van de hoeken van het schaakbord heeft een kleine, onopvallende beschadiging (chip) en een van de pionnen is gelijmd. Bekijk voor een goede indruk de foto's.
