Description from the seller

SADIKA KESKES – Collection "Sidi Bou Saïd"

Pair of candle holders in blown glass and forged iron

A beautiful pair of candle holders from the collection "Sidi Bou Saïd", created by the Tunisian glass artist Sadika Keskes.

These pieces combine green-tinted blown glass with a worked black metal structure, characteristic of Sadika's work at the intersection of glass and iron.

The Sidi Bou Saïd collection originated in 1988, when Sadika Keskes drew inspiration from the famous traditional cages of Sidi Bou Saïd. She then developed an original technique consisting of blowing the glass directly inside the metal frame, allowing the glass to naturally take the shape of the cage. This experience gave rise to a significant line of creations blending blown glass and iron.

Sadika's approach is part of a genuine artistic research into glass. A graduate of the Tunis School of Fine Arts, she undertook a internship at SEGUSO in Murano in 1983-1984, before developing her own workshop in Tunisia.

Sadika's creations are handmade and may exhibit variations in form, tint and material, making each piece possess its own character.
