Description from the seller
Sparrow – Lalique Crystal Sculpture/Baguier
Ref. Marcilhac no. 1155 – Art Deco – Lalique France**
Splendid crystal sculpture depicting a sparrow, in a typiquement Art Déco style, signed “Lalique France” on the base, attesting to its authenticity and its manufacture by the prestigious Lalique house, founded by René Lalique, master glassmaker, goldsmith and great innovator of design in the early 20th century.
This model is identified in the catalogue raisonné of René Lalice’s works under reference no. 1149, known under the appellation “Baguier Sparrow” (often historically presented as a paperweight or ring support), created around 1929–1930 and reproduced in Félix Marcilhac’s reference work on Lalique crystal.
The satin and polished crystal is highlighted by a delicate sculpture of the small bird, with clean lines and a peaceful posture. Each feather, each transition of material testifies to the technical mastery and artistic sense characteristic of Lalique, who knew how to transform crystal into visual poetry.
Approximate dimensions :
– Height: approx. 7.5 cm
– Width: approx. 10–11 cm
– Depth: approx. 6–7 cm
Condition: very good overall condition, showing only light superficial micro-scratches on the base, typical of contact with a display case or presentation surface, without alteration of the beauty or the sculpture.
Aesthetic appreciation :
A piece representative of the Lalique Art Déco spirit, this item combines naturalistic sensibility and the pure form of crystal, making this sparrow a collectible item sought after by French glass art enthusiasts. It suits a display cabinet or a refined interior, where it will captivate with its elegant simplicity and artisanal quality.
