Very old wooden figurine from the 17th century; an antique depiction believed to be of the Christ Child as Salvator Mundi (Savior of the World).
Shows significant signs of age and woodworm holes. (The figurine is now woodworm-free/treated) Eyes are made of glass.

Features: The naked standing child raises the right hand to bless and in the left hand holds a globe, with heavily weathered polychromy and loss of the original finish.
State: The surface shows visible worm-eaten damage, craquelure and flaking ground paint/polychromy, indicating a late medieval or early modern religious devotional object.

Purchased in Porto, Portugal.

The figurine is packed very carefully and sent by registered mail.

Zeer oud houten beeldje uit de 17de eeuw; een antieke voorstelling te zijn van het Christuskind als Salvator Mundi (Verlosser van de wereld).
Vertoont aanzienlijke ouderdomssporen en houtwormgaatjes. (Het beeldje is nu houtworm vrij/behandeld) Oogjes zijn van glas gemaakt.

Kenmerken: Het naakte staande kindje heft de rechterhand op om te zegenen en houdt in de linkerhand een wereldbol, met sterk verweerde polychromie en verlies van de oorspronkelijke afwerking.
Staat: Het oppervlak vertoont zichtbare vraatsporen van houtworm, craquelé en loslatende grondverf/polychromie, wat duidt op een late middeleeuwse of vroegmoderne religieuze devotie-object.
