Krisplank keris board made of teak wood from Indonesia, measuring 70 cm high, 30 cm wide, 10 cm deep, weighing 1.5 kg, dating from the late 20th century, original/authentic, in good condition, one piece from Privécollectie provenance.
Description from the seller
A special kris- / kerisbord, also known as a kris-/ kerisholder or blawong. It is an authentic piece from Bali, Indonesia. Traditionally the keris is hung on the kerisbord when it is not worn. The kerisbord hangs on the wall of the Krobongan, the sacred chamber at the back of a traditional Javanese house. It is said that the power of the keris is most active when placed vertically, and therefore it is hung high for protective purposes.
Although this piece shows signs of use, it features wonderfully rich decoration. The patina and the old paint, which indicate considerable age, combined with the elegant design, make it an ethnographic object of great importance.
