Kutani‑ware is one of Japan’s celebrated kilns; Kinrande represents its premium technique, combining rich coloured glazes with genuine gold painting for an elegant yet restrained aesthetic, widely used for tea‑room display and incense appreciation. Eiraku Rakukō was a Kutani potter active 1920‑1945, inheriting technical traditions of the Kyoto Eiraku kiln. This Japanese‑style tripod censer has a full, well‑proportioned body. It is covered in deep‑red glaze with natural crackle across the surface. The body is decorated with scrolling peony foliage painted in elaborate genuine‑gold Kinrande. The lid features a sculpted shishi‑lion finial with open‑work perforations for smoke ventilation, finely finished. Peony symbolises prosperity, while the shishi lion stands for good fortune. The piece works well for incense burning, interior decoration and tea‑room display, holding both practical and collectible value. A red square seal “Eiraku Rakukō” is stamped to the base. It comes complete with its original paulownia‑wood Tomobako and yellow storage cloth. The outer lid bears hand‑written ink inscriptions Kōro (香炉), Eiraku Rakukō, plus seal and mark of the box‑maker Manzō (萬造). The inner side of the lid carries ink writing Nana‑kaiki Hōyō, Shakuhzen (釋博善), confirming this censer was originally an offering vessel for a Buddhist memorial service. A period ceramic catalogue is included; all original accessories are preserved. The porcelain body is intact, no cracks, no repairs. Consistent with its age, the genuine‑gold decoration shows minor natural wear and the glaze crackle is aged. The original paulownia wood box bears dust and age‑related wear.
