France - Antique Mirror Lamp / Wall Lamp (Girandole) - Gilded wrought iron & Faceted mirror glass - ca. 1930.
This classic fixture combines functionality with the grandeur of the French Art Deco period and is strongly influenced by the Venetian Baroque style.
The fixture has a shield-shaped back plate made of thick mirror glass with a facet-cut edge.
The mirror is hand-decorated with a refined, etched floral cartouche motif that beautifully reflects the light.
The graceful, sweeping arms and ornaments are made of patinated/gilded wrought iron. At the top there is a classical palmette or acanthus leaf, and the arms converge at the bottom in a stylized floral motif.
The candle holders have an authentic, lived-in look.
A timeless decorative piece that sits perfectly in both a classic and an eclectically modern interior and provides warm, atmospheric lighting.
