Traditional Japanese Aizu lacquer wooden fubako (document box) from Fukushima, Japan.

The black lacquered lid is beautifully decorated with an elegant Kikyo (Japanese bellflower) motif in red, purple, green and gold tones.

The lid bears the signature “Unryu” together with a red seal. The original storage box is included, with a label identifying the item as a wooden black lacquer bunko with Kikyo decoration.

This type of box was traditionally used in Japan for storing letters, documents and other important items.

Condition:
Excellent condition. The lacquered box appears to have been unused and has been carefully stored. The original outer storage box shows age-related wear, stains and scratches. Please check the photographs carefully for the condition.
