A wonderfully abstract and unusually substantial and heavy solid glass table lamp, most probably dating from the 1980s.
From a distance, the design is very graphic: a luminous square of glass surrounding a perfect black central square, giving the lamp the character of a logo or three-dimensional geometric symbol. Its simplicity makes it strikingly architectural.
Up close, however, the glass becomes much more expressive. The thick body has softly rounded edges and is filled with small air bubbles. An opaque, almost ice-like white layer appears suspended within the clearer outer glass, creating depth and a beautifully frosted effect.
