Lot of Two Lagavulin 12 Year Old Special Release 2024 – Fireside Tales
(Lot of two bottles: perfect for enjoying one and keeping the other as a collectible piece)
Lagavulin 12 Year Old Special Release 2024 “Fireside Tales”, a limited edition from one of the most iconic distilleries on Islay and one of the most eagerly anticipated releases within the Diageo Special Releases. A particularly interesting expression for lovers of peated and smoky whisky, bottled at its Natural Cask Strength of 57.4% ABV.
This 2024 edition features a classic combination of maturation in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks and refill casks, aiming to balance Lagavulin’s characteristic smoke and peat with additional sweetness and richness from the wood.
The result is an intense, deep and elegant Lagavulin, where bonfire smoke and embers combine with notes of vanilla, toffee, coconut, spices and a pronounced maritime character.
Key Features:
• Distillery: Lagavulin
• Region: Islay, Scotland
• Age: 12 years
• Edition: Special Release 2024 – “Fireside Tales”
• Alcohol strength: 57.4% ABV
• Volume: 70 cl per bottle
• Bottling: Natural Cask Strength
• Maturation: First-Fill Ex-Bourbon & Refill Casks
• Condition: New, unopened, original tubes
Tasting Profile:
On the nose, the classic Lagavulin character appears immediately: bonfire smoke, embers, peat and maritime notes, accompanied by sweeter nuances of vanilla, coconut and caramel.
On the palate, it is creamy, intense and enveloping, with a powerful combination of smoke and peat alongside notes of toffee, vanilla and spices. The high alcohol strength provides remarkable intensity and allows a few drops of water to be added to reveal additional layers of flavour.
The finish is long, dry and deeply smoky, with lingering notes of ash, salinity and warming spices that remain on the palate for a considerable time.
A Particularly Interesting Piece for Collectors
The annual Lagavulin 12 Year Old Special Release editions have become highly appreciated among Islay whisky enthusiasts, as each release offers a different interpretation of this classic high-strength expression.
The 2024 “Fireside Tales” edition is particularly distinctive for its combination of first-fill ex-Bourbon and refill casks, creating an expression that preserves Lagavulin’s unmistakable smoky and maritime character while adding a sweeter and creamier dimension.
An ideal lot both for the enthusiast who wants to enjoy a cask-strength bottle and for the collector who prefers to preserve one bottle from this limited edition.
Two new and unopened bottles, both with their original tubes. An excellent opportunity to acquire the complete lot: enjoy one and keep the other as a collectible.
