Sculpture, Fontana Eolo - 40 cm - Cast Stone

A particular sculpture depicting the effigy of Aeolus in all its uniqueness in mineral stone, completely hand-finished (stone cast).
Aeolus is a character from Greek mythology who, according to the Odyssey, embodies the god of the winds, who meeting Odysseus gives him a jar that contains all the winds except one, which will carry him home. Odysseus departs and after nine days of sailing, when he is already in sight of Ithaca, he is struck by sleep. Then his companions take advantage of it to open the jar, believing it to be full of precious objects. In this way, all the winds were released and a great storm arose, which drove Odysseus and the crew away from Ithaca.
According to Diodorus Siculus, over time Aeolus earned a reputation for having the power to control the winds, and this is why he is presented that way in the Odyssey. However, in reality he did not possess this ability: what gave Aeolus that fame was rather his skill in handling sails and the fact that, by observing the smoke of the volcanoes of the Aeolian Islands, he could predict the wind direction without ever getting it wrong.
