Table stand - Bakelite - Vintage tabletop stand

Fascinating and rare vintage desktop lectern made of Bakelite (or vintage thermoformed Perspex with faux-wood effect), a superb example of Italian craftsmanship from the mid-20th century (circa the 1930s–1950s), in the style of the famous Roberta Wood or Cimena Torino productions. The lectern is distinguished by rich openwork in full Baroque style, dominated in the center by a large and scenographic letter “B” with scrolls and foliate decorations. The structure features an elegant perimeter frame finely decorated, completed at the bottom by two characteristic front feet modeled as lion’s paws (ferine feet). At the back there is the original rack-and-pinion structure, which allows adjusting the tilt of the support on several levels, making it perfect both as a mid-century decorative piece and for displaying art books, missals, or catalogues.

The item presents good overall aesthetic condition, with a beautiful patina that enhances its charm. Important note for bidders: as clearly visible in the detailed photographs, the lectern has a missing element at the front, where the lower support (the strut or the small shelf) originally intended to block the bottom of the book is absent.
