Marcellus Aubry - Teapot - Stoneware - black and brown enamel

Large stoneware teapot by Marcellus Aubry (1909–1982), Belgian ceramicist active in Bouffioulx.

Low, generous form with a long spout, large ring handle, and removable knobbed lid. The body in reddish-brown stoneware is partially covered with a dark black-brown glaze with metallic glints.

Monogram “MA” incised under the base, corresponding to the documented marks of Marcellus Aubry.

Characteristic work of Bouffioulx’s Belgian production from the 1940s–1950s.

An old restoration is visible at the lower junction of the handle. Presence of some signs of use and firing irregularities compatible with its age.

Beautiful post-war Belgian modernist ceramic piece.
