Vase - Gilt brass, Patinated bronze

Rare antique trench art umbrella stand / standing vase, made from a large artillery shell from the early to mid-20th century. The piece is richly decorated with solid brass appliqués, including graceful handles with acanthus motifs, floral scrolls, and stylized spire ornaments. The combination of the dark patinated metal and the gold-colored ornaments.

The underside shows clear military stamps and markings, including DEC, LOT 160, DP, S, 16 – indications of production batch, month and shell type.
