Beautiful Art Nouveau small box - J.J. Carnaud - Orientalist dancers. France 19th/20th century
Beautiful authentic antique tin box from the Art Nouveau and Art Deco period. The lid is decorated with a atmospheric Orientalist image of two dancers/musicians in Eastern style. The box was produced by the well-known French manufacturer Établissements J.J. Carnaud & Forges de Basse-Indre and stamped on the edge of the lid: Etab. J.J. CARNAUD & F. de B... PARIS).
The attractive trinket features striking beautiful colors of turquoise blue, gold, red and deep blue and is provided with a classic keyhole motif at the front. (the little key is missing and light signs of wear cf photos)
The box is in original, vintage condition with a beautifully weathered patina that suits its age and the lid closes well.
