Description from the seller

Rarissime edition of this work which belongs to the great tradition of compilations of Roman law that have ensured, for centuries, the transmission and study of the law of the Emperor Justinian in Europe -

This work is part of the heritage of the immense legal project carried out in the 6th century under the reign of Justinian I, Eastern Emperor who gathered, ordered and harmonized the main sources of Roman law in order to constitute a coherent legal corpus, known as the Corpus Juris Civilis -

The Volumen Legum must thus be understood not as a personal work written by Justinian in the modern sense, but as a collection arising from this legal tradition and from its medieval and Renaissance transmission, in which imperial constitutions, the texts of the jurists and the commentaries of the lawyers were progressively organized to serve the teaching and practice of law -

Justinien - Volumen Legum - 1589 - Tome II - Lugduni -
