Description from the seller

An auction of a Holy Grail for vintage fountain pen collecting: the legendary Sheaffer PFM V (Pen For Men, model 5), introduced in 1959. A piece that marked a milestone in industrial design for its bold proportions and technical innovations.
The body is made of high-gloss black resin with an oversized thickness designed to offer an imposing and ergonomic grip.
The flat base of the finial is capped by an elegant square gold-plated plate. The cap features a sumptuous gold laminate decorated with a pattern of fine vertical lines (pinstripes). On its lower lip you can read the engraving "SHEAFFER'S - MADE IN U.S.A.", and the sturdy clip bears the unmistakable White Dot, the company’s lifetime guarantee symbol.
The pen showcases two of Sheaffer’s greatest feats. First, its iconic inlaid nib, diamond-shaped, forged in solid 14-carat gold. Second, the astonishing Snorkel pneumatic filling system: by turning the base, a retractable tube extends beneath the nib to draw ink directly from the inkwell without staining the gold at all.
Condition:
The piece is in an extraordinary aesthetic and mechanical state. The black resin maintains a deep, crack-free polish with no severe marks. The gold-plated cap is magnificently preserved, with no dents or loss of plating in its linear pattern. The 14K inlaid nib is in perfect geometry, and the Snorkel tube deploys correctly. The piece is delivered loose, carefully protected.
